Jalapeno Grilled Cheese Sandwich

A few weeks ago, the ladies were gone to a wedding in Indiana, so we fellows were at home with Daddy. We came home from church on Sunday and were wondering what we would have for lunch. We decided we would make grilled jalapeno, real bacon bits, egg, and cheese sandwiches. I decided to put the recipe up so others can enjoy this wonderfully splendid delicacy.

To make one sandwich:

1 chopped jalapeno

About the same amount of bacon bits as jalapeno

1-2 eggs

Cheddar cheese

2 slices of bread, buttered on one side

Butter the bread and fry eggs. When the eggs are done, remove them from the skillet and place on unbuttered side of one slice of bread. Dump the jalapeno and bacon together in the skillet. When jalapeno is cooked, put egg, cheese, bacon, and jalapeno on a piece of bread in the pan. (butter on the outside of the sandwich). Let it grill until lightly golden, then turn over and grill the other side of sandwich. Next place on plate and take a picture. (It is best to eat it with a fork.)

Lessons from Sunflowers

Have you ever admired the beauty of sunflowers? The brilliant yellow pedals, the life giving seeds, and the tall green stems with large green leaves. All were created by the magnificient Creator of the universe. Sunflowers have many things that we can learn from them.

It is evident that sunflowers keep their faces turned to the sun. This is an encouragment to me to keep my eyes on the Son of God, our gracious Saviour. He is trustworthy, and He wants us to trust Him with every aspect of our daily lives. He knows our past, our future, and what we are going through today. We must follow the example of sunflowers and keep our focus on the Son.

Sunflowers are servants. They give their lives for others. They provide pollen for the bees. In dying, they not only drop their seeds so that more sunflowers can be given life, but they also provide protein-rich food for the birds. We as Christians, need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, giving our lives to God, and becoming true servants, who are faithful in all things.

Sunflowers give glory to God by doing exactly what they were designed to do. They stand tall and look to the sun. They don’t try to hide in the grass and turn purple: They were not made to be violets. They are yellow sunflowers. We don’t need to be afraid of what other people think. All that matters is that we do exactly what God wants us to do. He created us to be exactly who we are for a reason.

I hope that you have the same appreciation for sunflowers that I have. Keep looking to the Son of God!

An Analogous Portrait in Words

The rain had fallen heavily the evening before, and as she stood enjoying the warmth of the July sun, a beautiful sight caught her eye. Her attention was captured for the moment, as she gazed into an unsightly puddle not far distant. Unsightly indeed to the casual observer, for it is puddles like this that muddy the skirts and damage shoes. But oh! how lovely it was to an eye sharpened to keen observation of artistic comeliness. For in the puddle was reflected the summer sky, brilliant with large, white clouds of the most airy appearance. And to add to the lustre of the scene, small rainbows flitted at the edges, always evading direct attention, but there, nonetheless.

What a scene, rich with an analogous truth of God’s mercy! For though she gazed toward the ground, her eyes were soon dazzled with an unmatched view of the heavenlies.

Jesus Loves Me

Romans 8:28  “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”  Do you face difficulties in life? Well, I certainly do. Whenever those struggles appear I need to remember that Jesus always loves me. If there are family problems, Jesus loves me. If I am doubting my salvation, Jesus still loves me. If I am struggling, Jesus loves me. No matter what I face, Jesus will always love me. If I want whatever He deems best, even if it seems to be the worst for myself, I can still trust Him. He is using this problem in my life for MY good, and HIS glory. I must give him my struggles, my hurt, my desires, my relationships…EVERYTHING. When I focus on the fact  that He is by my side in this battle, and that He loves me no matter what, I can face anything. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. ” May we all focus on Christ’s love as we strive to share it with others.

Help Me to Trust You!

Help me to trust You, Omniscient God!
You know my future: bad and good,
You planned the valleys, trials, tests,
So help me, LORD, in You to rest.

Help me trust you, Omnipotent One!
You are Power: all battles have won;
You conquered sin through Jesus’ blood,
And walk with me through any flood.

Help me trust You, Omnipresent LORD!
You promised, You’re near, in Your Word.
Help me know You’re nigh all my days,
And teach me to trace all Your ways.
